A perfect book for adult and child to read together. Children love to chant along with the text’s refrain (“He was still hungry”), shout out the days of the week and guess what the caterpillar will eat next.  The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the most successful picture books ever and has been translated into more than thirty languages.

The story of the little mole who knew it was none of his business, Werner Holzwarth, Wolf Erlbruch

Poor Mr Mole pops his head out of his hole one day, only to get a nasty surprise landing on his head. He then sets out to find the culprit, asking several different animals on the way if it was them who pooed on his head. A hilarious book about a controversial topic. The amusing illustrations and text help children laugh about a subject they sometimes find embarrassing.

Where the wild things are, Maurice Sendak

Where the wild things are tells the story of an angry boy, Max, so angry that he says he’ll eat up his mother. For this, he is sent to his room with no dinner. In his room, a forest begins to grow and a boat takes Max to the place where the wild things are. One of the truly great children’s books. It is instantly readable as well as profound.
